Can someone tell me in what part of Nabless the circle is. I left jabal-in-Nar in 1956 and have no recollection of the "dawwar".

I have just discovered this website and have been browsing for a long time. I am British-born, now living in Australia, but in 1959 I married a Nablus Palestinian man and lived in Nablus for a few years. My dear father-in-law was AHMED SAYED EL NAJJAR who was a cloth merchant and he had a tiny shop in this main circle. We used to sit for hours talking about "life" in the shop, even though at that time I could speak only a few words of Arabic and he spoke only a few words of English. I loved him very much and because of him my heart will always belong to Nablus, my spiritual home. I would like to see more pictures taken in the circle. There was a clock in the centre of the circle in the 1960's. I lived at Jebal es Shamali and my father-in-law lived next to the HAMMAM TURKIE. Salaam alaykum. From Nadia (Um Khaled) Najjar. |

The two story building in the front is the Tooqan Soap Factory. This photo was taken in the early fifties after the monastery opposite the factory was demolished to widen the street. |
