نحن ابناء المرحوم محمد غنام ابو اكرم من كفرعانه وحاليا في مخيم الجلزون رام الله نؤكد على حقنا في بلدتنا كفرعانه كبلد محتل من قبل الصهاينه الاوغاد ونؤكد على انتمائنا لهذه البلده الرائعه فلا تفريط ولا تنازل ولا تبديل ونحن باذان الله تعالى لن نتوانى يوما عن مقارعة الاحتلال لاجل تقديم ما يمكن تقديمه على درب التحرير والخلاص من بني صهيون

Hello, I've reached your site looking for information about my childhood memories from Kiriat-Ono, the place I grew up in. I was born in the 70's, long after the 48' war, and had no idea that my home stood on Palestinian land (they don't tell you that at school, and you have to find out yourself). Of course, I heard about Kafr 'Ana, but the books and my teachers told me that "they left willingly on 48', though we pleaded them not to", and as a child I found nothing wrong with this answer. My question, however, is not about the Nakba. Near my house was a field ("reissfeld orchard", today a built quarter of Kiriat-Ono) and i clearly remember a Bedouin camp settled there, with sheep and goats. As far as I know, except for us children, nobody had ever made contact with them. One day they where gone. I don't remember quite when (probably in mid-80's), since nobody ever spoke about them ever since, or even asked a single question. For a child it's like one of your toys is gone, or your grandma dies, so you're sad and you get used to it. You have no idea it's a political question. But when I grew up and remembered them and the way they where silently evacuated, I couldn't avoid thinking that the same people that threw them away from their home are the ones who keep asking how could the Eastern-Europe society not pay attention and raise questions about the disappearing of the Jews during World War II. How can one be so indifferent to suffering, regardless of his or her political views, is beyond my understanding. Our town stood silent when the Army/ Government/ Police took them away, and this sin we will carry as long as we live. I would like to know if you have any information about this Bedouin tribe. Who they where? Where are they now? When where they driven out of their home? On what excuse? If you can direct me to a survivor or another source of information, it may help me voice what had been silenced for so many years. I thank you for keeping a Hebrew version of the site. It is important that Israeli people will have access to information in their mother tongue that is different from the usual "they just hate us and will always try to throw us into the sea" rubbish. Dear Kafr'Ana people,
I extend to all of you my deepest and warmest greetings. I have to say that this great site enabled me,for the first time, to have a glimpse of my beloved home town. So I thank all the dedicated people who built this site and all those who contributed pictures or any kind of info.
I would be greatly honoured if anyone out there from my hometown decided to e-mail me.

Kafr'Ana, like all our Palestinian towns and villages, is made special because of the dear memories and longing it holds for our loved ones... It is made even more special to me because it is the hometown of someone I will always hold close to my heart...

In remembrance of the thousands that was ethnic cleansed from Kafr`Ana by the zionist forces in 1948, made to adopt a living as refugees in various refugee camps.
I have been working in Palestine 2002/2003 and 2004, mostly in Balatah refugee camp of Nablus, home to a lot of refugees from Kafr`Ana, made to flee, and now terrorised by daily israeli army operations. Mukhayam Balatahs children are facing tanks and APC:s on their way to school, jeeps roaring the streets, Balatahs residents are fired upon with M-16, heavy 300 mm ammunition from tanks, tankshells, heavy teargas, soundbombs and rubberbullets.
In a narrow alley of the camp, a man sat on a chair waiting me. I came up, shoke his hand and he told me about when he and his family fled Kafr`Ana, the thousands that was forced to flee with him. The 50 people that was butchered on the scene. I already knew the history of Palestine, tought to my well during the time I was working in the diferrent camps, cities and villages of Palestine. I saw children get shot, elderly get teargassed, mothers detained on route to hospital, I never cried. But when I left the man in the narrow ally of Balatah refugee camp I went to my appartment, went into the toilet and cried for a little while.
Then I went out to face the reality of occupation again.
To everyone from Kafr`Ana and other destroyed villages of pre 48 Palestine. I know your History and I keep telling it to everyone I know. ( I will try to visit Kafr`Ana, close to the Ben Gurion Airport) Best reguards, Petros.

I am very pleased to see this site after I learned about it in my visit to Amman last November. I am thankful to the contributers of the pictures wich keep memory alive, thinking of the day we all return back to the homeland.
